Thayer County Museum Archives

The Thayer County Museum and Historical Society is working to provide an online list of what is available in the archives. This will be of great interest and benefit to anyone working on genealogy projects. We also plan to start posting some of the amazing images that are part of the collection, but rarely seen by the public.

We have many photos of old sports teams, storm damage – even the Hebron Bicycle Club!
Stay tuned for updates!

The public is welcome to visit the archives during regular hours or by appointment. Please stop by and see what we have.

Here is a listing of all the names that we have in our archives.  If you are interested in more information, please contact us or visit the Museum.

I mailed this letter to your organization on 10/22/2010. Have you had a chance to look at the file?
    Thanks, Laura

    Dear Museum staff and volunteers,

I’m writing to ask if you have any information on the family of Henry Edwards (1809-1885) and Sarah Anderson Edwards (1815-1900) of Thayer County, NE and Republic County, KS?

They are my husband’s great-great grandparents. His great-grandparents are Thomas Henry Edwards (1844-1913) and Laura Ann Kessler Edwards (1854-1945). His grandparents are Ira Paul Edwards (1890-1948) and Evelyn Louise Straub Edwards (1895-1973).

I saw the Edwards surname listed in your Research File 4: D-E. May I request a copy of the Edwards file?

Can you tell me how to best request help/information and a list of the fees?

In the 1990s, Ms. Brenda Busing transcribed an obituary for Sarah Anderson Edwards and listed Edwards on a Hubbell Cemetery Surname spreadsheet. Do you have any way to tell me the first name of the Edwards buried in Hubbell? Some Edwards family members are buried in Maple Grove (KS) but it seems that Sarah is not. Can you help me find Sarah’s grave?

    Thank you,

    Laura Keaton Morrison

  3. Dear Thayer County Museum Staff and Volunteers:

Thank you for the fine work you are doing maintaining this site. I am hoping that you can point me in the right direction. I am trying to obtain a copy of an obituary/death notice published in The Times – Hubbell, Nebraska. The obit was for Minos Leighton Williams and I believe it was published on August 25 of 1899. I am also interested in anything that the museum might have on file for the surname Williams. I don’t know if there is a way to submit look-up requests – I am happy to pay a research fee.

Thanking you in advance for any assistance you can provide!
