Union Pacific 844
On May 28, 2011, the Union Pacific Steam Engine #844 made a 15 minute whistle stop in Belvidere. A great crowd was on hand to witness the event and although the train ran a couple of hours late, most of the crowd waited to view the great engine.

We were also treated to a number of freight trains that passed through (and probably were wondering what all the fuss was about!).

Eventually, at 3:50 – the big engine pulled into town! What a sight! The only way to describe this machine is “massive” (well maybe a better writer could find more descriptive words). But UP 844 hasa presence that the new engines cannot match.
