The Thayer County Historical Society and Museum preserves the people, places, work, and traditions that shaped the county. The campus offers plenty to explore, from large agricultural equipment to small personal objects that tell the stories of local families and communities.
What You Can See
Farm Life and Agricultural Heritage
Explore the Big Red Barn and open machinery building, where farm equipment, implements, tools, and other displays reflect the work that has sustained Thayer County for generations.

Visit the old Belvidere school and a one-room country school. Displays throughout the museum preserve the experiences of students, families, businesses, and communities across the county.
